The patended ALPSLOCK with Pyramid (S498-P) integrates a pyramid into the lock
body design. This all-in-one combination replaces three pieces: the lock itself,
the universal mounting plate, and the pyramid. Substantial cost savings and
convenience are engineered into this system. The Glass Reinforced Nylon lock
body exhibits better wear characteristics than delrin or aluminum. The tight
tolerance maintained at ALPS ensure that the serrations of the pin move securely
through the one-way gear. Users can appreciate its ease of use and quiet
mechanism. For additional comfort while sitting for extended periods, the user
can easily disengage the pin by pushing the side mounted release button to
quickly relieve tension. The convenient one-way gear allows the user to push in
or wind the limb into the socket. This is particularly helpful for users with
excessresidual tissue. A unique feature of this type of lock is that if foreign
material or clothing get caught in the gear, the housing can be removed freeing
the pin. This eliminates the possibility of having to cut the socket. The
ALPSLOCK with Pyramid (S498-P) must be used with laminated sockets.
